Founded in 2023 and inspired by other queer hockey organizations, Queer Hockey Hamilton was born from the excitement and inclusion we experienced at various queer hockey tournaments. We wanted to bring that same energy back to our community.

Queer Hockey Hamilton is led by a passionate team of executives dedicated to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and allies to enjoy hockey. We’re committed to fostering a safe, positive environment where everyone, regardless of skill level or experience, feels like part of the family. Join us on the ice, the floor, and beyond!

I am a devoted hockey player and lifelong fan of the Leafs. I have participated in many minor leagues growing up. However, as a transgender individual, establishing a sense of belonging in the hockey world proved to be a challenge. Eventually I discovered queer hockey organizations in other major cities. Noticing the huge impact it made on me and other players with the combination of the absence of such an organization in Hamilton, that's exactly how and why we decided to create QHH. I am committed to uniting the LGBTQ+ community through their shared love for hockey, fostering the growth of new players, enhancing skills, and forming lasting friendships.

Hockey has been a central part of my life for over 25 years, yet I’ve often struggled to show up as my authentic self—and I know I’m not alone. 2SLGBTQ+ individuals are significantly less likely to participate in sports compared to their heterosexual peers. That’s why I’m proud to be part of Queer Hockey Hamilton, where we’re breaking down barriers, fostering inclusion, and building a supportive hockey community for everyone.

Hockey has been a lifelong passion for me, though I only began playing as an adult—a decision that quickly became one of the best I've made. Yet, I noticed that hockey isn’t always accessible or welcoming for everyone, and that realization sparked the creation of Queer Hockey Hamilton. We saw a need in Hamilton for a hockey community where 2SLGBTQIA+ folks could feel truly included and safe. Now, I'm thrilled to be building this community with others, working to make hockey an enjoyable, inclusive experience for everyone who loves the game.

I started playing hockey when I was 8 years old, back when women's hockey wasn’t nearly as recognized or respected as it is today. I started out playing forward but it didn't take long for me to commit to being a full-time goalie. I was privileged to have a positive hockey experience growing up but am aware of the segregation and discrimination still present in society and sport. Queer Hockey Hamilton was born from a need for acceptance, inclusion and diversity - on and off the ice.
